News from the BOG
Getting ready for spring, here’s what is happening at Woodhaven Country Club:
Mike Newbill and Debbie Martinak are working diligently to ensure that our current and future members are satisfied with their benefits at Woodhaven. We have had 6 members join since the beginning of 2015. Spouse’s names will be available soon. Please be sure to welcome these folks when you see them.
If you have not seen the new member packet, please take a look at the reception desk. It offers visibility to the current membership rates as well as other pertinent information. Transparency of member rates has been an ongoing issue and the BOG wants to correct this.
Mike Newbill (long time member) agreed to create a Hole-In-One Policy statement, so that it is clear to all members how this process works. This was approved by the BOG and a copy is attached and is in the Pro Shop. Congratulations to Jon Collins, the most recent member with a hole-in-one.
Food & Beverage/Social
This staff and committee have been working diligently to create activities that all members will enjoy. The Wine Dinner (sold out at 30 guests) January 23, was a huge success, thanks to Jake Soteriou, Mike Suazo and his staff. Also, the Valentine’s dinner had over 100 guests and was very nice!
The committee and staff are now working on other ideas for St. Patrick’s, Easter Brunch, Mother’s Day and more. Please continue to support the Club by attending these events. If you have a suggestion or would like to serve on the committee, please contact Jake at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Don’t forget the 19th Hole has half-priced appetizers and drinks until 7:00 p.m. on Friday nights as well as the catfish dinner.
The Club tournaments are scheduled and that information is now on the Woodhaven website (www.woodhavenclub.com). First up is the WWGA Spring Tournament, March. The always popular Woodchop and Yellow Rose tournament planning is well underway. All of the tournaments are listed on our website, www.woodhavenclub.com.
In addition, we hope you all have seen the Wednesday Quota tournaments that our Pro, Jason Rocha, has created. Lots of new players are joining our own members.
Of course, we owe superintendent, Jamie Miller and his team, a huge thank you for keeping the course as good as it is during the cold weather. The Grounds Committee has established their own priorities and is working with Jamie to make those happen. Please do not hesitate to visit with Carl Koch and/or Peter Cowin about your particular concerns. More information about those items will be coming soon.
Please note that Chris Gum and Carl Koch have created a Pin Rotation plan so that our course is constantly being refined and changed for more challenging plan. A big thank you to Chris and Carl! This plan is available in the Pro Shop.
The BOG voted to agree with the maintenance staff to replace the 100 and 150 yard marker poles, with flat garnet makers. This action reduces labor by not requiring the worker to remove the pole before mowing that area.
Attention members with pull carts: If you hitch a ride up a hill with another member who is in a power cart, please be sure to hold your pull cart out far enough so that it doesn’t scratch or dent the power cart. Big thanks!
Mike Bury Academy will be relocating to Los Colinas Country Club March 1st. Thanks to Mike we have more improved golfers at Woodhaven. All our best to Mike!
